A glue manufacturer in Italy had problems matching production planning and material planning. We performed a process analysis and helped them make the move from Excel to more dedicated tooling for planning the weekly production in their plants. Having multiple copies of three different Excel sheets turned out not to be.a source of confusion rather than efficient planning. As a side project we investigated the possibility to monitor and improve their energy consumption (gas and electricity) in relation to melting poly urethane, the basis of their glue products. Key question was if melting the material every day was more or less energy efficient than melting it less frequently and keep it stored in heated silos. Making the right decision there helped them strengthen their position as market leader.
